Lions loan Smith

Millwall have taken Derby County winger Ryan Smith on loan for the next month.

The 20-year-old has struggled for first-team opportunities with The Rams since his summer switch from Arsenal.

Smith will get the chance to earn more playing time with Millwall over the next month, as The Lions push for promotion from League One.

Derby boss Billy Davies expects a spell at The Den to be beneficial to both player and club in the long term.

"He is a young player who has always been very much a long-term signing for us," Davies said.

"When a team finds themselves doing well in the league, as we are, inevitably certain young players find games restricted.

"That's been the case with Ryan so the month at Millwall should be very beneficial to both the player and Derby County."
