Gonzalo Higuain believes that Real Madrid can still win the Spanish league title and highlights home wins as the key to catching Barcelona and Sevilla.

With 11 games remaining in the top flight, Fabio Capello's team are in third place and are five points behind the joint-leaders.

Despite that gap, Higuain is confident that if Madrid can put together a decent run then they could make a bid to snatch the championship in the final weeks of the campaign.

"We have 11 finals left, and we'll have a good chance if we win all our home matches," the French-born star stated.

The Argentinian forward moved to the Bernabeu during the winter transfer window and has already become a favourite among the supporters, but he is still adapting to his new life.

‚Ç£I knew I was joining a club where there is a lot of pressure to deal with," he continued. "It's been a while since the last title was won, and it all stems from that.

"But I do think this team and the coaching staff will stand together until the end in order to win the league.‚Ç¥

Higuain admits that he has still not fully adjusted to life in Spain although he knows what changes he may have to make to his game to improve even more.

‚Ç£The style is different here; it's faster," he said. "You have to find a hole between the best players in the world here, but I'll catch on as time goes by and, fortunately, I am adjusting well thanks to those who have helped me.‚Ç¥

After scoring just once in his first 13 appearances for the club, the 19-year-old knows that he has to be more composed when chances come his way.

‚Ç£It's not that I'm having trouble, because the opportunities have been there," he explained. "I think I have to calm down when it comes to finishing.

"I had chances in our last match, but I rushed into taking the shot, perhaps because I'm anxious to score. I'll start scoring as soon as I settle down.

‚Ç£I think I need to calm down more. That's when I'll start being successful. I don't want to lose so many balls, and I think I should improve in that respect.‚Ç¥
