Rothen: PSG can survive

Jerome Rothen believes Paris Saint Germain can avoid relegation.

Jerome Rothen believes Paris Saint Germain can avoid relegation.

The capital outfit are currently second bottom in Ligue 1 with just 28 points - two adrift of safety.

But Rothen says the players believe they can scramble their way to safety despite their recent poor run of form.

Paul Le Guen's side still have to face relegation rivals Nice, Troyes and Nantes, and Rothen insists the future is in their own hands.

"I think that in spite of our last two defeats at Lisbon (Benfica) and Rennes we have shown some promise," the former French international told Football 365.

"Of course it is difficult when you lose three consecutive matches, but our future is in our own hands.

"People think we can go down. Raymond Domenech is right, Paris can go down, it is a fact.

"But we must adopt a positive state of mind."
