Rennes are trailing Sweden international Petter Hansson, according to French reports.

Rennes are trailing Sweden international Petter Hansson, according to reports in the French media.

The 30-year-old centre-back is currently playing for Dutch Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen, but his contract is due to expire in the summer.

Rennes became aware of Hansson when they played Heerenveen in a Uefa Cup clash and have apparently been impressed with his performances of late.

It is believed the player, who was part of the Sweden squad for Euro 2004 and last summer's World Cup, is now close to an agreement with the Brittany side, who have a history of signing Swedish players.
