Byfield blow for Lions

Millwall striker Darren Byfield is set to miss the rest of the season through injury.

Byfield is struggling with an ankle injury he picked up in last weekend's win over Swansea.

The talented forward is set to undergo scans on the injury this week, but the club fear will be sidelined for several weeks.

Byfield will join Tom Brighton on the injury list with the forward set to undergo an operation on a long-standing ankle problem.

"Tom hasn't felt quite right since he came back from the [original ankle] injury, and does not believe he has been able to do justice to himself," said Millwall physio Terry Standring.

"Now it is clear that we are in no danger of relegation or of having a realistic hope of making the play-offs, we decided to get the situation sorted in time for next season."
