Essien doubt for Che clash
Michael Essien remains doubtful to make his Chelsea comeback against Valencia.
Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien remains doubtful to make his Blues comeback in next week's UEFA Champions League clash with Valencia. The Ghana international has missed the last six games for Jose Mourinho's side, including Saturday's game versus Spurs at Stamford Bridge.
Essien sustained a knee injury in the home FA Cup draw with Spurs back in March and is battling to play in the crucial second leg clash against the Che.
After drawing the home leg against the Liga outfit, Mourinho will be keen to have his best squad available for the trip to Spain on Tuesday.
Regardless of whether Essien features, the former Lyon ace is backing his team-mates' character to get a result at the Mestalla.
"For me, one of the best things about this Chelsea team is that we never give up," he stated.
"Even when we go behind we can change things around and still come back right up until the very end.
"Luckily, we've got the experience and the strength in the team to be able to do that and it's helped us on many occasions.
"We have to believe that even though we are away from home in the second leg, we can still score goals.
"We have the belief in ourselves that we can do it and get through to the semi-final."
