Carlos reveals anguish

Roberto Carlos claims he has been beset by problems over the last two years.

Roberto Carlos claims personal problems have meant an unhappy end to his career at Real Madrid.

Carlos, who has already signalled his intention to call time on his Bernabeu stay at the end of this season, revealed he has been suffering from off-the-field problems for a number of years.

Carlos admits he could yet pitch up in the Premiership but insists a decision on his future will only be taken at the end of the current campaign, with his family now his first consideration.

"In the last two years I have had so many problems. My agent let me down, then I got divorced from my wife," Carlos told Terra.com in Brazil.

"Football can be lonely, not being near to my children has been the worst part of all this.

"I could feel calm on the pitch because when you play, you forget about everything. The problems started after the games.

"I do feel better now my daughter Roberta is in Madrid."

Carlos revealed he has received a number of offers but will wait before deciding his future.

"I will leave Real Madrid because I feel it is the best time to do it," added Carlos.

"I was offered a new contract but we couldn't reach an agreement.

"I have received offers from Turkey, Qatar, Dubai and England but first I want to finish this season and then I will announce my future plans."
