Asamoah hints at new deal
Gerald Asamoah has hinted that he is ready to sign a new deal with Schalke.
Germany international Gerald Asamoah has hinted that he is ready to sign a new deal with Bundesliga leaders Schalke. The 28-year-old, who is tied to the Veltins-Arena until 2008, sealed a much-praised comeback last week when he scored in the 2-0 home win over Borussia Monchengladbach - his first start after breaking his leg in September.
Asamoah has also stressed that his previous trouble with coach Mirko Slomka is over.
Prior to his leg injury Asamoah had been suspended by Slomka for disciplinary reasons, but the striker insisted that his relationship with the coach is okay again.
"The past is over and done and today I am feeling happy at Schalke again," Asamoah told Kicker.
"I am the club's longest-serving player and build myself a good reputation and that's something you don't give up easily.
"I did not speak to the club about extending my contract yet, but I could imagine that my future lies with Schalke."
