Cherries keep Saints striker

Bournemouth will keep hold of striker David McGoldrick until the end of the season.

Bournemouth will keep hold of striker David McGoldrick until the end of the season after extending his loan move from Southampton.

McGoldrick has scored six goals in 11 games for The Cherries and was expected to return to St Mary's after Saturday's game against Nottingham Forest.

However, Kevin Bond has managed to secure the talented striker for the remainder of the club's League One campaign as they aim to stave off relegation.

The Cherries are five points clear of the drop zone with three games left to play, and will be without star midfielder Darren Anderton for the trip to Forest after he picked up a groin strain which is likely to rule him out for two weeks.

"We'll miss him [Anderton] an awful lot, we have nobody better at keeping the ball," said Bond.

"But we've done okay without him in the past and we'll need to do well without him again."

Another player who will not be featuring is Callum Hart as the defender is expected to miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a knee injury.

Hart's comeback from an ankle injury in a reserve game only served to cut short his season when he sustained suspected medial ligament damage.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth have confirmed that midfielder Tareq Khalil has left the club by mutual consent without making a single appearance.

Khalil moved to Dean Court on a free transfer from Cardiff in the summer but Bond has not chosen to retain him for next season.

Josh Walker has also left the club after a successful loan spell to rejoin parent club Middlesbrough.
