Denis Law admits Cristiano Ronaldo could become Manchester United's greatest ever player.
George Best is widely regarded as the best footballer to have graced United's illustrious history, but Ronaldo is staking his own claim for greatness.
The Portuguese winger is tipped to win the PFA Player of the Year award on Sunday night and has been labelled the world's best on current form.
United legend Law concedes it is difficult to compare players from different eras, but feels Ronaldo could usurp Best in the list of the club's all-time heroes.
"He's so exciting," Law told the Sunday Express. "Yes, the way he's playing there's every chance that he'll become United's greatest ever player.
"Of course it's very difficult to compare him and Bestie in the circumstances because you're going back many, many years.
"But I suppose if Bestie was playing in the current United team, then they'd be on a par."
And former striking ace Law believes that, in Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, The Red Devils have the players to change the course of any game.
He added: "In our team we had Bobby Charlton and Bestie.
"And you knew that even if you weren't playing well, Bobby and Bestie would be able to do something special.
"That's exactly what they've got in the present United team with Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. They are such a formidable pair."
