Browning: I'm not ready to quit

Bournemouth's Marcus Browning says he is not ready to retire just yet.

Bournemouth's Marcus Browning says he is not ready to retire just yet.

The 36-year-old's contract with the League One side expires in the summer, but the midfielder believes he still has what it takes to play on for another year.

"I would like to stay. I've enjoyed myself here and I would like at least another year," Browning told the Bournemouth Daily Echo.

"I'm not ready to retire yet. I know I'm getting on, but I'm still as fit as anything. When I'm struggling, I'll know when it's time to hang up my boots - but it's not just yet.

"I'm in the same boat as quite a few of the other lads who are out of contract so hopefully I can sit down with the manager and have a chat about things."

Browning has made 212 league and cup appearances for The Cherries and only returned to full training on Monday after a seven weeks out with a calf injury.

He now hopes he could be in line for a recall for Saturday's clash with Gillingham.

"It might be a bit early but it would be fantastic to be involved. If I could get a full week's training under my belt then I would try to get in the squad," Browning added.
