Lee McCulloch will ignore the pain of a foot injury to play his part in Wigan Athletic's bid to avoid relegation.The winger suffered a bruised foot in the recent 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur and sat out last week's defeat at Liverpool.
He is hoping to be fit to line up in Saturday's crucial home game against relegation rivals West Ham United.
But McCulloch concedes he will have to push himself through the pain barrier to face The Hammers, and also to figure in games with Middlesbrough and Sheffield United.
"I'm fairly confident I will be fit for Saturday," McCulloch told the Wigan Evening Post.
"The foot is still a bit tender, but the physios have done a good job with me.
"I was injured when I took a swing at the ball and I kicked Michael Dawson's boot as he slid in to tackle me.
"It was very painful and I really thought I'd broken it.
"Thankfully all the scan showed was a bit of bleeding in the foot, so that's a big relief for me.
"I think I'm going to have a bit of pain when I play the next few games, but I'm willing to go through that knowing there is no crack to the bone.
"It will be forgotten about when I go out on the pitch because we have such a big game."
