Aranburu commits to Sociedad
Mikel Aranburu has signed a new deal with Sociedad after interest from Athletic Bilbao.
Mikel Aranburu has ignored interest from Athletic Bilbao to sign a new contract with Real Sociedad.The midfielder's deal was due to expire in the summer and he had been linked with a switch to Sociedad's Basque rivals.
But Aranburu has opted to commit his future to his current club until 2011 and now wants to focus on Sociedad's fight to stay in La Liga.
"My objective was to stay," Aranburu told the club's official website.
"Now it is more important to speak about the race to save the team from relegation."
A further four players are out of contract with Sociedad in the summer and talks are planned with Xabi Prieto, Javier Garrido, Aitor Lopez Rekarte and Darko Kovacevic.
Real Zaragoza and Real Betis have been linked with Prieto, while Garrido is attracting interest from Deportivo La Coruna and Atletico Madrid.
