Jewell: I'll make changes
Paul Jewell says he may need to make changes to his side for Wigan's final two games of the season.
Wigan have collected just three points from their last seven games and are now in 17th place, outside the relegation zone on goal difference alone.
And, although Jewell is reluctant to make major changes to his starting line-up, he admits he may now be forced to shuffle his pack.
"I've never been one to chop and change things dramatically, but we're on a run we need to end, so maybe we need fresh impetus," he said.
"So maybe one or two need a rest, and one or two can come in who have not played much of a part.
"It's up to them to show me in training this week as to who those people will be. I'm looking at them in training, and looking at them to say 'pick me'."
One player who looks certain to miss Saturday's home game against Middlesbrough is captain Arjan de Zeeuw, who suffered an ankle injury in the 3-0 defeat to West Ham at the weekend.
Jewell added: "He has a nasty ankle injury - and if he comes off, you know it has to be nasty with 'Arry.
"There's a lot of swelling around his ankle, and he is a major doubt for the weekend, and a risk he might miss the last game.
"But knowing 'Arry, he never rules himself out of games, so we will have to see how he is.
"But I would think he has got no chance for Saturday."
