Valencia quash Miguel link

Valencia have told skysports.com that Chelsea have not been in touch regarding an offer for defender Miguel.

The Valencian press reported that the Portuguese player has been linked with Chelsea and that his agent has been contacted but has still not been presented with a bid.

Blues scouts have been watching the player and reporting back to boss Jose Mourinho, according to press speculation.

Initially Valencia have not been interested in the sale of the player, who was bought from Benfica for ‚é¼8million (£5.4m) in summer 2005 and is now valued at a minimum of ‚é¼20m (£13.6m).

Valencia's sports director Amedeo Carboni told skysports.com: "Valencia have not yet received a bid for Miguel. It is normal that clubs are watching our player because he is one of the best in Europe."

Miguel is contracted to the club until June 2010 and coach Quique Sanchez Flores has expressed a desire to keep the player.
