Villarreal hopeful over Forlan
Villarreal have revealed they have had no offers for Diego Forlan.
Villarreal have said that they are ready to replace Diego Forlan if he leaves, but confirmed that no offers have been received for the Uruguayan striker. The 28-year-old has been linked with Liverpool, Valencia, Aston Villa and Sunderland after another impressive campaign at El Madrigal.
Whichever club wants to secure his services will have to meet the é¼22million buy-out clause in his contract because Villarreal are not willing to negotiate.
Villarreal director Jose Manuel Llaneza Dura says they have received no offers for the former Manchester United man and that they are confident the player will stay at the club.
"Forlan's situation is very clear," Llanez Dura told AS.
"He has told us that he does not want to leave and that he is happy here.
"Besides, our desire is that he stays with us."
If Villarreal do receive a bid that forces their hand then they admit that they will be prepared to dip into the transfer market to find a new striker for next season.
"We are conscious, however, that he has a buy-out clause and if somebody agrees to meet that then he could go," Llanez Dura continued.
"As of now, no club has had direct contact with Villarreal to say that they are willing to pay the amount specified in his contract.
"If this were to happen though, the club is ready to react."
