Top Gun Thierry

Opta look at the record of Barcelona-bound Arsenal skipper Thierry Henry.

Thierry Henry's impending move to Barcelona will see Arsenal and indeed English football as a whole lose one its greatest ever players.

While some Gunners fans will feel that the time was right for the fleet-footed Frenchman to be sold, no-one can question the incredible impact Henry has had on the North London club over the years.

Overall, the former Juventus star netted a club record total of 226 goals for The Gunners, with 174 coming in the Premiership and 35 coming in the UEFA Champions League. Interestingly, only 11 of those goals were headers.

In terms of the Premiership, Henry has lit up the league ever since making his debut against Leicester City on August 7, 1999.

His incredible 174 goal haul was achieved at an average of one every 122 minutes, while he remains the only player to have scored more than 20 goals in five consecutive Premiership seasons.

Henry's haul of 20 assists in the 2002/03 campaign also remains a record for a single season.

Last season, a tired and injury-prone Henry managed to net only 10 league goals, although they did come from just 17 appearances. However, the Arsenal legend also saw his chance conversion rate fall to its lowest ever rate of 13%.

With Henry backing his bags for sunny Spain, Arsene Wenger will no doubt now be eyeing up a number of potential replacements for his departed protege.

However, whoever that player turns out to be (if anyone at all), he will face a massive challenge in trying to fill Henry's magical boots.
