Toulouse claim Gignac deal
Toulouse have now claimed the signing of Lorient striker Andre-Pierre Gignac.
Toulouse have now claimed the signing of Lorient striker Andre-Pierre Gignac.
Controversy surrounds the young striker after Lille said he had already penned a deal with them but TFC chairman Olivier Sadran confirmed the move had taken place on Monday.
"It is a settled case. Our administrative director was in Lorient on Monday. Lorient signed the last papers," Sadran said.
"Gignac has signed a four-year contract. We have followed the rules."
However, Lille have also confirmed that they had already signed a contract with Lorient and the player earlier and the case will be studied by the juridical committee of the league in a fortnight.
Lille chairman Michel Seydoux told L'Equipe: "I am sure of one thing, we had an agreement both with the player and FC Lorient.
"Toulouse were following other trails and has woken up and followed us. Those kind of cases are always a problem.
"We are used to that at Lille, with Eric Abidal and Efstathios Tavlaridis in the past. Now things must calm down."
