Dons: No bids for Anderson

Jimmy Calderwood says there have been no bids for Aberdeen captain Russell Anderson.

Jimmy Calderwood says there have been no bids for Russell Anderson, amid reports Sunderland are lining up a swoop for the Aberdeen captain.

Black Cats boss Roy Keane is looking to add to his squad in preparation for a Premier League campaign and has been linked with Anderson.

Speculation claims a £1million offer is in the pipeline, with Everton, Fulham and Middlesbrough also monitoring the defender.

But Aberdeen manager Calderwood has not fielded any enquiries for Anderson, although he concedes he fears losing the Scotland international.

"We haven't received any bids from any club for any of our players," Calderwood told the Evening Express.

"I'd be very happy if that continues to be the case because I don't want to lose anyone.

"It remains a constant worry that someone might come in for Russell.

"But I'm encouraged by the fact we haven't received any bids for him yet and I'm hopeful he will stay."

Anderson has 12 months remaining on his current contract and admits he is not rushing to leave Pittodrie, with the club playing in the Uefa Cup next season.

"These are exciting times to be an Aberdeen player, so I'm in no hurry to leave," said Anderson.

"I'm open to discussing a new contract and if it meant staying with Aberdeen for the rest of my career then fine."
