Makaay moves to Feyenoord

Bayern Munich striker Roy Makaay has joined Feyenoord on a three-year deal.

The 32-year-old requested a transfer from Bayern with the two clubs agreeing undisclosed terms for the frontman's move.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told uefa.com: "In the name of Bayern and the club's fans I want to thank Roy Makaay for four very successful years in Munich.

"Roy was a very important player, he scored 102 goals in 178 competitive games and showed great personality on and off the pitch."

The Netherlands international won back-to-back doubles with Bayern in 2005 and 2006 after joining the Bundesliga club from Deportivo La Coruna in 2003.

Following the arrival of German striker Miroslav Klose at Bayern earlier this week, Makaay's future looked in doubt and he chose to move to Feyenoord despite receiving an offer to join former Bayern coach Felix Magath at Wolfsburg.

Meanwhile, defender Kevin Hofland has also joined Feyenoord from Wolfsburg.

The 28-year-old has signed a four-year contract at the De Kuip stadium for an undisclosed fee following three years in Germany.

Another Dutch international, he played under Feyenoord boss Bert van Marwijk at Fortuna Sittard.

Makaay and Hofland join new signings Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Tim de Cler, Andwele Slory and Luigi Bruins at the club.
