Bury aim to follow up the capture of Paul Morgan by signing the defender's former Lincoln City team-mate Ben Futcher.Morgan has agreed a two-year contract with the Shakers after being released from the final 12 months of his Lincoln deal earlier this week.
He could be joined at Gigg Lane by Futcher, who has been in talks to rip up his contract at Peterborough United.
Mansfield Town also want Futcher, but Posh manager Darren Ferguson expects the player to opt for a move to Bury.
Shakers director of football Keith Alexander is hoping he will be able to reunite Morgan and Futcher in the centre of defence.
"I wanted to bring in players who know what it takes to make the play-offs," Alexander told the Bury Times.
"Paul Morgan is one of them, and Ben Futcher also fits that bill.
"We want players who know what it takes to win games at this level, and I'm hopeful we can sort something out with Ben by Friday."
