Crespo suffers Copa KO

Hernan Crespo is expected to miss the remainder of the Copa America due to injury.

Hernan Crespo is expected to miss the remainder of the Copa America after injuring himself whilst celebrating a converted penalty against Colombia.

The former Chelsea striker had amassed three goals in two games as Argentina opened their campaign with convincing victories over United States and Colombia, but pulled a leg muscle leg in bizarre circumstances in the second Group C encounter.

After scoring and celebrating a 20th minute penalty in Maracaibo, Crespo hobbled off the pitch and Argentina's team doctor Homero de Agostino believes the experienced front-man will now miss the rest of the competition as a result.

"It's very difficult for Hernan to play again in this tournament," said Agostino.

Argentina coach Alfio Basile is expected to turn to Real Zaragoza's Diego Milito or West Ham star Carlos Tevez to lead his front-line with Crespo injured, and the Internazionale striker is confident his team-mates can succeed in his absence.

"I felt the sharp pain as soon as I jumped to celebrate the goal," Crespo said.

"I'm angry, of course, but I know the rest of the guys can achieve our goal of winning the tournament."
