Hughes in Hearts talks

Hearts are holding talks with Stephen Hughes after agreeing a fee with Leicester City.

The Championship club have accepted a £50,000 offer from Hearts, with Hughes heading up to Tynecastle to discuss a move.

Hughes has been told he can leave the Walkers Stadium by new boss Martin Allen and has been interesting Motherwell.

SPL rivals Hearts admitted making an enquiry in late May and have now followed it up with a firm offer.

"We have accepted an offer of £50,000 from Hearts for Stephen Hughes," Allen told the club's official website.

"He is currently in talks."

Hughes has scored eight goals in 100 appearances for Leicester since joining from Rangers in January 2005.
