Bianchi attracts attention
Reggina's Rolando Bianchi is reportedly attracting attention from three English clubs.
Reports emanating from the Italian press have intimated that Reggina's Rolando Bianchi is attracting attention from three Premier League clubs. The striker was all set for a switch to Napoli, only for the deal to collapse, in a turn of events that is thought to have alerted the attention of Manchester City, Portsmouth and Arsenal.
Reggina and Napoli had reached an accord for the former Under 21 international, who scored an impressive 18 goals last season, only for the latter to go cold on the deal and pull out.
Atletico Madrid and Valencia had purportedly been interested but Bianchi has previously stated his preference for staying in Serie A.
Juventus were mooted as possible suitors, only to sign Vincenzo Iaquinta, with Bianchi now unlikely to still be on the radar of the Turin giants.
Manchester City are known to be in the market for at least a couple of strikers and given Sven Goran Eriksson's vast network of contacts in Italy, it would come as no surprise were he to express an interest.
Arsenal and Portsmouth are also likely to invest in strikers before the close of the pre-season, with the latter's bid for Preston's David Nugent looking to have somewhat stalled at present.
