Andy Todd is relishing the opportunity to follow in his father's footsteps after joining Derby. The defender has penned a two-year deal at Pride Park for an undisclosed fee following five years at Blackburn.
The 32-year-old's father Colin Todd plied his trade with the Rams in the 1970's where he made 371 appearances between 1971-1978, winning two league titles.
Andy, who was born in Littleover on the outskirts of the city, now hopes he can emulate his father's success with the club.
"I'm coming home," said Todd. "It's also another chance to play in the Premier League, but Derby are a good club with a good tradition, and I didn't have to think twice about joining.
"It's special that I'm now playing for the club my dad played for.
"My dad was a good player, and if I can achieve half of what he did then I'll be happy."
Meanwhile, Derby boss Billy Davies has unveiled David Kelly as his assistant.
Davies has waited over a year to bring him to the club after Kelly was placed on gardening leave by Preston but now the former Deepdale colleagues have been reunited.
The deal was finally brokered by new Rams chief executive Trevor Birch with one of the clauses that Kelly is not allowed to speak about his former employers.
"It's been a long time coming, but I'm glad to be here," said Kelly.
"It wasn't frustrating. The situation was what it was, and I just got on with things. I'm just happy it has been sorted."
