Timar pens Pilgrims deal

Krisztian Timar has signed a two-year contract with Plymouth Argyle.

Krisztian Timar has signed a two-year contract with Plymouth Argyle.

The Hungarian defender joined The Pilgrims on a six-month loan in January, but he has now put pen-to-paper on a permanent deal.

Timar, 28, is pleased to have secured the contract and is unsurprised at how well he has settled in English football since moving from Ferencvaros.

"I'm said to have good heading and physical abilities so it wasn't difficult for me to adapt to the English football style," Timar told the origo website.

"I was playing well for Ferencvaros and as a result I had some good offers from abroad.

"Fortunately, I could get into the Plymouth first-team quite quickly and I think I played good football.

"In Hungary I had to slow-down so as not to get a yellow or red card, but in England I don't have to hold myself back and I usually win the fights for the ball."

Timar becomes the third Hungarian on the books at Home Park, where he joins fellow countrymen Akos Buzsaky and Peter Halmosi, and he feels this has also helped him to settle.

"It's good to be here with two compatriots," Timar added.

"We became good friends and we are on the same wavelength.

"We are almost the same age, we help other in anything."

Timar made 10 appearances for Plymouth last season scoring once.
