West Brom bag Teixeira

West Brom have signed Portuguese midfielder Filipe Teixeira for £600,000.

Filipe Teixeira has completed a £600,000 move to West Brom.

The 26-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year contract at the Hawthorns after leaving Portuguese side Academica de Coimbra.

Teixaira joins recent signings Shelton Martis and Craig Beattie as Baggies boss Tony Mowbray continues to bring in new recruits as he looks to build a squad capable of earning promotion to The Premier League.

"Filipe is a creative midfielder from Portugal," said Mowbray.

"He's a talented, very technical player who we identified and we're delighted he's joined us.

"He will hopefully play a big part in what we are trying to achieve."

Teixeira began his career at Felgueiras before moving to French club Istres in 2001.

He then had a season at Paris Saint Germain before heading to Portugal with Coimbra in 2005.
