Mejia heads to Murcia
Real Madrid defender Alvaro Mejia has agreed to join Real Murcia for é¼2million.
Real Madrid defender Alvaro Mejia has agreed to join newly-promoted Real Murcia for é¼2million (£1.3million).The 25-year-old has been at the Bernabeu for nine years, but this summer's new arrivals at Real have finally forced him out.
Since being promoted to the Real Madrid first team in 2003, Mejia has made only 40 appearances for the club.
Bernd Schuster has been busy reorganising his squad since taking over from Fabio Capello and Mejia was told he was surplus to requirements.
Despite several offers from abroad and interest from other Liga clubs, Mejia will put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal with Murcia.
He will join Pablo Garcia at La Nueva Condomina after the Uruguayan international agreed to join from Real on a one-year loan deal.
Coach Lucas Alcaraz has been busy since guiding Murcia to promotion last season and has made considerable changes to his squad.
Along with the two Real players, Alcaraz has also brought in Valencia's Mario Regueiro, Paco Gallardo from Sevilla, Enrique De Lucas from Alaves and Villarreal defender Arzo.
