Striker leaves Wrexham

Wrexham have cancelled the contract of striker Lee McEvilly by mutual consent.

Wrexham have cancelled the contract of striker Lee McEvilly by mutual consent.

McEvilly was placed on the transfer list by manager Brian Carey earlier in July, but has now been allowed to leave The Racecourse Ground.

The Northern Ireland cap had 12 months remaining on his deal with the League Two side, but is free to look for another club.

He has been linked with local rivals Chester City, with Bobby Williamson currently fending off interest in striker Simon Yeo from Bury.

McEvilly scored 16 goals in 55 appearances for Wrexham after joining the club from Accrington Stanley two years ago.
