Bilbao bring back Cuellar

Athletic Bilbao have concluded a deal for Gimnastic de Tarragona striker David Cuellar.

Athletic Bilbao have concluded a deal for Gimnastic de Tarragona striker David Cuellar.

The 28-year-old hit-man has penned a three-year deal and returns to Athletic for a second spell having originally left San Mames and joined Elche back in 2002.

Cuellar becomes the second signing of new boss Joaquin Caparros following the capture of Aitor Ocio from Sevilla.

The striker - who managed two goals for Nastic in La Primera last term - expressed his delight at securing a return to Athletic.

"I have come to give everything," he stated.

"He (Caparros) is a coach who likes his players to work their socks off on the field and that is what he'll get from me.

"When I first played for the first team here I was very young and lacked experience, but now, at 27, I have improved and the fans will see that."

Meanwhile, Caparros is understood to have informed Igor Angulo, Francisco Tarantino and Alex Garcia that they do not feature in his first-team plans.
