Wycombe land Williams

Wycombe have signed former Swansea midfielder Tom Williams on a two-year deal.

Wycombe Wanderers have signed former Swansea City midfielder Tom Williams on a two-year deal.

Williams put pen-to-paper after passing a medical on Thursday, although the move is subject to the Cyprus cap receiving international clearance.

The 27-year-old becomes Chairboys manager Paul Lambert's tenth, and last, signing of a busy summer at Adams Park.

"That's my ten signings completed," Lambert told the club's official website.

"We've got a very strong squad now and we're going to give it a really good go this season to try and get out of this league."

Williams was released by Swansea at the end of last season and has been high on Lambert's list of targets for much of the summer.

Lambert is pleased to finish his summer transfer activity with the capture of the former Birmingham and West Ham man.

"I'm absolutely delighted at signing him," he added. "We've been trying to get him all summer, and there's been a lot of to-ing and fro-ing.

"He's a terrific player who's played a lot of games at a higher level.

"I saw him play against us for Swansea in the Carling Cup last season and was impressed with him, and I'm very happy to have signed him."

Meanwhile, Wycombe striker Fola Onibuje has left the League Two club by mutual consent.

Onibuje made just five appearances for Wycombe following his arrival from Swindon in the January transfer window.
