Celtic concluded their pre-season preparations with a 1-0 victory over Italian side Parma at Parkhead. The SPL champions kick off the defence of their crown next week and the manner of Sunday's victory bodes well for the forthcoming season.
A bright display from Gordon Strachan's side was rewarded with a win it merited, when the lively Aiden McGeady struck the game's only goal in the 84th minute.
Moments earlier and the talented midfielder had struck the bar with a free-kick but while it was he that proved Celtic's matchwinner, it was new boy Scott Brown that will steal the plaudits.
On his home debut the former Hibernian favourite put in an all-action display, with Celtic well on top of a first half that should have seen both Stephen McManus, with a header, and Maciej Zurawski, from no more than ten yards, open the scoring.
Parma had a couple of chances of their own in a lively first 45 minutes, but after the interval and the clash was interrupted by a number of substitutions in a half that will not live long in the memory.
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink brought a fine stop from Parma goalkeeper Luca Bucci, leaving it to McGeady to grab the game's only goal with a drilled finish from ten yards.
