Striker Ivan Alonso has pledged his future to Murcia by signing a contract extension.

Murcia striker Ivan Alonso has pledged his future to the club by signing a long-term contract extension.

The Uruguayan hit-man has put pen-to-paper on a deal that ties him to the Primera new boys until 2011.

The 28-year-old joined from Alaves in the summer of 2004 and has managed 33 goals in 115 league games to date.

His best season came last year as he found the net 14 times to help fire Murcia into the top flight.

Alonso has been joined at Murcia by three compatriots over the summer with Pablo Garcia, Mario Regueiro and Fabian Carini all having pitched up at the Estadio Nueva Condomina.

International goalkeeper Carini is the latest recruit and, at his presentation, spoke of his delight at securing a switch to Spain.

"It is a dream to play in Spain," stated the 27-year-old who has joined on a four-year contract from Internazionale.

"Murcia are building an interesting project. I like the adventure of helping them consolidate in the Primera Division.

"I spoke with Ivan (Alonso) and Mario and they both told me excellent things about the team and city."
