Knee injury for Blues captain

Chelsea captain John Terry is set to miss the first month of the season with a knee injury.

The England international reportedly suffered medial knee ligament damage in training on Saturday, ruling him out of the Community Shield.

Terry was a notable absentee from Chelsea's squad for Sunday's clash with Manchester United and is now set for four weeks on the sidelines.

The imposing stopper is likely to miss England's friendly with Germany later this month, while he is also doubtful to feature in September's Euro 2008 qualifiers.

The loss of Terry is a major blow for Chelsea, who are also without star striker Didier Drogba against The Red Devils.
