Doumbe set for Bhoys return

Defender set to sign deal with Celtic

Skysports.com understands Celtic are set to re-sign Jean-Joel Perrier Doumbe. Doumbe spent the second half of last season on loan at Parkhead and etched his name into Celtic folklore with the winning goal in the Scottish Cup final over Dunfermline. The Cameroon defender was hoping to make his move to Parkhead permanent at the end of last season, but a dispute between Celtic and Rennes saw the deal collapse. Rennes claimed they were due a fee from Celtic because of a clause in the loan agreement even though Doumbe is now a free agent. The Bhoys have now revived their interest in the 28-year-old as they look to ease their defensive problems. Doumbe's agent Willie McKay revealed the player is flying into Glasgow on Friday for talks with Celtic about a return to the SPL champions. "We are in talks with Celtic and we are hopeful of agreeing a deal," McKay told skysports.com. "Personal terms have been agreed and Jean is currently undergoing a medical. "Jean is delighted at the prospect of going back to Celtic as he enjoyed his time there before."
