Swedish striker moves to Holland

Groningen have completed the signing of IFK Gothenburg striker Marcus Berg. The 21-year-old, top scorer in the Swedish league last season with 13 goals, had attracted widespread interest in Holland. However, it is Groningen manager Ron Jans who has secured the forward's services. Berg is now set to put pen-to-paper on a four-year contract at the Oosterparkstadion. IFK admit they tried to convince Berg to stay in Sweden, but they hope he succeeds in the Eredivisie. "We tried to convince him to stay until the end of the season," IFK director Hakan Mild told the club's official website. "But, of course, we wish Marcus all the best."
