Owen won't be rejoining Reds
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has ruled out Michael Owen rejoining the club before the end of the month.
Owen's future at Newcastle has been the subject of speculation this summer after reports the striker had a £9million release clause in his contract.
Liverpool were rumoured to be possible suitors of the England international.
However, Parry says Owen will definitely not be moving to Anfield this summer and is unlikely to return to The Reds anytime soon.
"Certainly not in this transfer window and I very much doubt in the next one," Parry told BBC Radio Five Live.
Gerrard rest
Meanwhile, Parry says Steven Gerrard, who has suffered a fractured toe, should not be playing twice in a week.
Gerrard will face Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday but will not be involved in England's friendly against Germany in midweek.
"It's the sort of injury that is going to need careful nursing and rest," Parry said.
"If we had two games in a week, we'd be looking to rest him in one of them."
