Harry's Fantasy goal

Harry Redknapp recalled the amazing skill of Paolo Di Canio on The Fantasy Football Club.

My Fantasy asks some of football's big names about their dream moments in the game. And when we asked QPR boss Harry Redknapp for the goal he wishes he'd scored, there was only one choice that sprung to mind. He was in the West Ham dugout on the day that one of the Premier League's greatest ever goals was scored - by a certain Paolo Di Canio against Wimbledon. The stunner, which came in March 2000, was an unforgettable mid-air volley from a high cross at a tight angle - and Redknapp recalled the moment on the Fantasy Football Club. "The goal I wish I'd scored would be Di Canio's goal for West Ham," he said. "Paolo got the most amazing volley. I think Marc Vivien-Foe knocked the ball out wide to Trevor Sinclair and Trevor drilled the ball to the back post to Di Canio. "It was a high ball and Di Canio adjusted his feet and hit a volley right back into the top corner. It was just an amazing goal and great skill by a fantastic footballer." Redknapp says the current Swindon Town boss always had high standards and didn't always fit in with some of the British players in the West Ham dressing room. But he said both he and the rest of the squad loved him for his incredible flair, despite his notoriously fiery temperament. "He was a character, I just loved him. What a player. He was hard work though," Redknapp added. "He'd come in in the mornings and say: 'We are warming up boss... and Razor Ruddock is over there saying last night he drunk 10 pints. Di Canio is saying 'What is this? We are professional!' "But the lads loved him because he was a matchwinner and he was an amazing, amazing footballer." NullData
