Goalkeeper credits transfer market work
Brad Friedel has praised the work of Blackburn manager Mark Hughes in the summer transfer market.
Rovers goalkeeper Friedel believes his manager has made another shrewd move in bringing Roque Santa Cruz to Ewood Park.
Blackburn paid a reported £3.5million to Bayern Munich for Santa Cruz, a year after bagging the prolific Benni McCarthy for £2.5m from Porto, and Friedel believes the Paraguayan forward already looks value for money.
"We are not going to be able to spend £20m on one player, but Santa Cruz was a reported £3.5m and is one of the best strikers out there," Friedel told the Daily Star.
"Our staff have obviously done their homework and got an exceptional player for a very good price.
"When we finished in sixth position we had a very good squad with Andrew Cole, Dwight Yorke, Damien Duff and Matt Jansen firing in the goals and this is probably a stronger squad than that."
