FA 'aware' of Poyet remarks

The Football Association is set to scrutinise Gus Poyet's claims that referee Andy D'Urso is biased.

Leeds assistant boss's remarks 'considered'

The Football Association is set to scrutinise Gus Poyet's claims that referee Andy D'Urso is biased, after he took charge of Leeds' Carling Cup defeat to Portsmouth. The Whites' assistant manager stated that he "never wanted to see D'Urso at a Leeds match again" and blamed both manager Dennis Wise's and his own past for causing the referee to give decisions in the opposition's favour. Wise and Poyet have both been red carded by D'Urso in their playing careers, and the Uruguayan claims that the referee must still hold a grudge against the Leeds duo. Following the claims, The FA has stated that it is set to make enquiries as to Poyet's comments. An FA spokesman said: "We are aware of his comments and are considering them." Poyet could face a fine or touchline ban for his comments, which he moved swiftly to clarify were not made due to anger at the 3-0 loss, and stated that "Portsmouth were great and deserved their win."
