Manager hoping for signing
Harry Redknapp is confident of sealing the signing of Glen Johnson.
The England international spent the whole last season under Redknapp, on loan from Chelsea.
After starring for Pompey, Johnson returned to Stamford Bridge hopeful of sealing a first-team berth.
However, despite an encouraging pre-season - Johnson has again sunk down the pecking order and the recent arrival of Juliano Belletti means the chance of any first-team action is slim.
Now a host of clubs including Newcastle, West Ham and Pompey are battling for his signature but a return to the South Coast looks the most likely option for the 23-year-old.
"Glen did well for us when he was here," Redknapp told the Daily Star.
"He is a good player and I hope we can get him."
