French striker set for bench

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Louis Saha will be involved against Sunderland at the weekend. The French ace has yet to feature this season because of a knee injury but he is now set to hand Manchester United a big boost by returning. With Wayne Rooney injured and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having confirmed his retirement, Ferguson is pleased to have Saha back. "Louis [Saha] is such an important player for us," Ferguson told Sky Sports News. "I don't think he'll be starting, but he is such an important player when he comes off the bench too." On Rooney - Ferguson is happy with the progress being made by the England ace. "It is difficult to say he goes for a scan next week and hopefully that gives us good results," he said. "He's doing all his work in the gymnasium and he is working very hard. "Fitness-wise he does not have too much to pick up because he had a very good pre-season so we are happy with that." Meanwhile, Ferguson is not overly concerned by United's lack of goals so far this season. "It [goal drought] is unusual considering the number of chances we're making," he continued. "Sometimes when you get your first win that helps though. "The team spirit was good last Saturday [against Tottenham]. They defended well against a good Tottenham side. It was quite an open ended game and they have come through that and showed good spirit."
