General manager wants Hertha in the Champions League in 2009
Hertha Berlin general manager Dieter Hoeness has outlined the club's plan of progression, which aims to see the German side competing in the UEFA Champions League in 2010/2011 season.
This summer has seen a huge turnaround in playing staff at the Olympiastadion, but Hoeness is convinced that he and new coach Lucien Favre have now found the right mix to achieve success.
Speaking after Saturday's 2-1 victory over Wolfsburg, Hoeness admitted that he was planning to get the capital city team into Europe's elite competition in three years' time.
"This year we want to finish in the top ten in the Bundesliga, next year get into the Uefa Cup and the year after that into the Champions League," Hoeness explained.
"There is still plenty of work to do, but you can already see that the players' attitude is there.
"There is an excellent atmosphere within the squad and we are working professionally - that was always our goal."
