Jay-Jay signs one-year deal

Jay-Jay Okocha has signed a one-year deal with Hull City. The 34-year-old was unveiled by the Championship club at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon. Okocha has been without a club since leaving Qatar SC, and will once again work under City boss Phil Brown, who was the assistant manager during a successful spell at Bolton. The former Nigeria international watched his new club from the directors' box during their 2-1 defeat to Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Monday night and Brown hopes he will bring some much needed creativity to his side.

Influence

Okocha admits Brown was a key factor in his return to English football and now hopes to prove his manager's judgement correct. "I've missed English football and the atmosphere here, so it wasn't a surprise for me to make that decision to come back," said Okocha. "Phil Brown, who I know from Bolton, influenced me to come here and hopefully I'll pay him back. "He has given me another opportunity to come and enjoy life in England and I'm looking forward to it."
