Espanyol's Ivan De la Pena is unlikely to make his first-team comeback for another two months.

Midfielder now in the final stage of his rehabilitation

Espanyol's Ivan De la Pena is unlikely to return to first-team action for another two months. The Spanish international suffered ligament damage when he twisted his right knee during pre-season training in July. Reports in Spain suggest that De la Pena has now entered the final phase of his recuperation, and should be available in October. "He will have to be patient," said Espanyol's club doctor. "He has a lot of muscular mass and will have to wait before he can play again." Espanyol are currently 15th after succumbing to an opening day defeat to Valladolid, but impressed away to Real Betis on Sunday, securing a 2-2 draw.
