Jeff Moore has announced his intention to resign as chairman of Notts County.

Chairman resigns from Meadow Lane

Jeff Moore has announced his intention to resign as chairman of Notts County. Moore said he was unable to combine the role at Meadow Lane with his duties as chief executive at East Midlands Development Association. Two directors - Howard Wilkinson and Joanna Adams - have also tendered their resignations from the League Two club. Moore said: "My position as chief executive of EMDA is a full-time role and I no longer feel it is fair to Notts County to continue as chairman of the club while being unable to afford the requisite amount of time.

Reluctantly

"Therefore, I have reluctantly taken the decision to step down, but I will continue in the role until such time as the shareholders and board elect a new chairman." Moore had drawn up a strategy to take the club into the Championship by 2012. "No-one with any realistic ambitions for this football club is prepared to see us hang around in League Two," he added. It is not known if Wilkinson and Adams' decision to quit the club's board are connected with Moore's decision to stand down.
