Italian playmaker staying put
Cagliari have rubbished reports that they have held negotiations with Liverpool regarding Pasquale Foggia.
The highly-rated playmaker is rumoured to be a target of Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, but Cagliari have dismissed the speculation.
Foggia is currently on loan with Cagliari from Lazio, but the 24-year-old has expressed a desire not to return to the Italian capital.
Liverpool have been rumoured to be considering a move for Foggia in the January transfer window, but Cagliari insist they have had no contact with the Premier League side.
"Cagliari football club deny any negotiation with the English club Liverpool for the player Pasquale Foggia," read a statement on the club's official website.
Meanwhile, Fabio Aurelio made a successful injury comeback for Liverpool's reserves in their 2-1 win over Crewe on Tuesday.
The Brazilian full-back has been out of action since damaging his Achilles tendon against PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League in April, but he played 45 minutes against Crewe without complaint.
