Scotland coach won't go route one
Alex McLeish insists Scotland will not play a long-ball game against France in Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier.
France coach Raymond Domenech has suggested the state of the Paris pitch would favour Scotland's style of play.
But McLeish has dismissed the notion that he will send out his players with the intention of playing route-one football.
The Scotland coach is keen to see his team play on the front foot and has called for 'controlled aggression' against the Group B leaders.
"I've had the formation and tactics in mind for some time, but you always have to wait to decide on the personnel because a lot depends on fitness and attitude," said McLeish.
Greedy
"We'll have to play in a similar style to the game in Italy when we played one in front of the middle.
"We want to use players who can get the ball and use it, and we know that Ferguson, Fletcher and Brown can all do that.
"I don't want to see us humping high balls up front in Paris, although I do know there will be times when we'll have to send the ball into row Z.
"I want the players to get the ball down and play it. I want them to show controlled aggression and I'm hoping the referee won't be swayed by the home crowd.
"We need to start getting greedy and, although we were expected to win on Saturday, and perhaps not here, I want to see us get forward.
"I want the players to have the bottle to get on the ball and do something with it."
