Defender to visit specialist in six weeks
Clive Clarke is hopeful of playing professional football again following his recent double heart failure.
The defender suffered the problem after collapsing during half-time in Leicester City's Carling Cup tie with Nottingham Forest last month.
Clarke is due to visit a specialist in six weeks, but is keen to resume playing, providing he is given the go-ahead.
"I am just resting for the next four to six weeks, taking it easy and spending time with the family," Clarke told
Sky Sports News.
"Then I will sit down with the people who know what they're talking about and then go from there.
"It has put a few doubts in my mind, but like anything you have to get over it.
Happy
"If they give me the all-clear to play I will be happy to go and play again hopefully."
The Irishman, who was on loan at Leicester from Sunderland, also believes players should be tested for any heart defects on a regular basis.
He added: "I do think that a lot of clubs do test people for it, I know all the young boys get tested.
"Maybe it should be once a year. If they bring in a rule that everyone has their heart tested once a year, it doesn't cost a lot of money and it's quite straightforward.
"But they could have tested me two days before and not found anything. I'm lucky there are no problems with me at the minute.
"I just have to get on with life now and be happy for every day I'm here."
