Emile Heskey is hoping his past experiences can help his team-mates following his return to the England fold.
The striker made his first international appearance in three years against Israel at the weekend and retained his place for Wednesday's win over Russia.
At 29, Heskey was the oldest member of the starting line-up for the 3-0 success at Wembley, having partnered Michael Owen at the expense of Peter Crouch.
As the senior figure in the team, the former Liverpool forward believes he can pass on his wisdom to the younger members of the squad.
"I've been there as a younger lad and seen things," Heskey told
Sky Sports.
"Some of these young lads, there is a lot of pressure on them, but as an older head I'm a bit used to it now."
Good options
Heskey is happy to be back in the international reckoning and is hoping to retain his place for next month's Euro 2008 qualifiers against Estonia and Russia, with Wayne Rooney expected to be available after injury.
"I just want to go out there and play when I'm called upon, and do the best I can," added Heskey.
"I've come back in now and it's great. It's a different squad from when I was last in.
"He's (Steve McClaren) got different options and you takes games differently depending on where you are playing and who you are playing.
"There are a lot of good options for him to choose from, so you never know what he's going to do."
